Should Women Be Required to Register for the Draft?
Currently, all American men are required to register for the military draft when they turn 18. While we now have an all-volunteer military force, the draft could be reauthorized during a national emergency or a long war during which volunteers weren't sufficient to fill the ranks of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard.
Recently, the military has opened all combat positions to women who meet the physical and mental requirements- and it has been suggested that as a result, women should now also be required to register for the draft when they turn 18.
